So in my quest to continue finding tools and ways of managing this tenant and to one day completely get rid of it, I decided to add to my ‘artillery’ by experimenting with something new to me.
I visited a Nutritionist/ Naturopath for the first time ever to see if I could learn more and find ways to improve my health and my nutrition.
I don’t have too much to report yet as it was only the initial visit but what I do have to report is good.
So the visit was more about her getting to know my situation, my eating habits/patterns, any medication I was on, lifestyle etc..
Let me quickly share with you firstly that my lifestyle is pretty sedentary (as you would have gathered from this older post, but in regards to nutrition, I don’t eat ‘bad stuff’.
I try to avoid refined sugars thanks to the example my son leads by, after having watched the movie That Sugar Film.
No fried stuff. Lots of veggies and unfortunately for me, because I am the one who cooks at home, the majority of what we eat is 100% home made and cooked!😩 (My family doesn’t appreciate bought or packaged food hahaha) even though I very much DISLIKE cooking by the way! … So basically we are quite healthy eaters.
Having said all that though, the problem with me is that I actually don’t eat enough!!!!! But yet, I put weight on!!!! Yep! Go figure!
Yes, I’m a bit of a ‘meal skipper’ during the day but then pig out at dinner. Not unhealthy stuff, but too much of it for that time of the day. And then, I go to bed.
I can see many of you waving your finger at me. I know, I know, but that’s just my reality.
And even though I KNOW what needs changing, etc, I do believe I need some help with making those changes and I also need a plan of attack.
Hence my recent visit to the Nutritionist/ Naturopath.
So back my visit to her.
When I started describing how tired I felt all the time, lack of motivation, moody, sad, lack of focus, loss of memory, etc., she explained that (in my simple words because she sounded more knowledgeable than this hahaha) but basically having been taking antidepressants for so long, and although they help in taking the edge off, and somewhat controlling the depression, they sometimes make other parts of your body go out of whack. It ‘imbalances other things’.
And that, she was sure, is what is happening to me.
So she ordered every blood test under the sun for me.
She also straight away put me on two supplements: zinc and magnesium.
Guys, I cannot explain the change in me from 2 weeks ago. I am so much brighter. So much more awake. The fog around my brain is clearing. I am much more focused and alert and even my memory has improved!
She didn’t do much more than that as she wants to look at the test results and move forward from there. But so far, I can certainly feel a difference!
I am not telling you to rush to the chemist and buy supplements! I’m just sharing what I did and seems to be making a difference!
I am no professional so please don’t take my word as gospel. But yes, maybe consider that you could try testing other stuff out, always ensuring you do as directed by someone who knows what they are doing…
I will have to give you an update once I have been to see her again, but for now I thought I’d share this other mini step I have taken!:)
I very well know that another step I will have to take at some point is the bloody exercise, and it will come… I am hoping this newfound motivation and energy I am starting to feel again will lead me to getting off my bum and getting those limbs moving around!!! 😜
Till next time then… And don’t stay put!!! Find in my experiences the strength to try stuff out! To make little steps towards beating this tenant!!!
I am with you in this!!!!! 💗
